Glitter Enhances Every Age

By Karen and Erica

We both like sparkles.

Sparkles are in now--and not just for evening wear. At Jimmy Choo, Armani or J. Crew, you can find them on everything and in all price ranges. The best part is that they come in all colors.

We liked sparkles even before they became all the rage. We don't put them everywhere. The question is how much and where. We don them sparely. In strategic places. We do not do head to toe sparkles. We do not do fat garish glitter. We absolutely do not do glittery slogans, especially across our chests or butts. No. We like small, subtle glitter. We particularly like sparkles peeking through something else--like netting or a jacket. Karen likes neon sparkles, Erica likes black and silver ones. Actually Karen likes all of them and is somewhat less careful than Erica about the whole thing.

We both take more risks with our feet than the rest of our bodies. So does everyone else these days. Indeed, shoes seem to be the newest glittery accessory. Every brand seems to have flats that add style even to your jeans. There are, of course, sparkly high heels but now there are sparkly sneakers and sparkly flats heels too--perfect for daytime strolls.

Makeup is a whole other thing. We used to like our eyes and our cheeks to sparkle. We still do for special occasions, like New Year’s Eve. But we now are more into dewy than glittery on our less than perfectly smooth faces. That’s not to say your face is off limits for sparkles.  A little sparkle on the sides or edges of your eyeglasses can be just the right touch to your face. And sparkles in other places—nails, scarves, handbags—can add a little oomph. In fact, we don't think any sparkle application is off limits. We just suggest not using all of them at the same time.

Soon, it will be New Year's Eve. Will you sport sparkles?
