Thanksgiving. In Person. Now We Know How Special It Is.

By Erica and Karen

We are so glad Zoom came on the scene just before COVID did too. We are much gladder that we are not having a Thanksgiving gathering via Zoom. Actually seeing our loved ones, and dressing for them, and feeding them as sumptuous a dinner as we can think of, is an enormous joy.

Here’s what are we came up with. You probably already have a plan but maybe our ideas will inspire what you do with leftovers.

  • Dirty martinis. We love martinis and we insist on olives. Three of them. James Bond will learn one day.

  • Spiced Cashews. Easy, delicious, and they go well with martinis.

  • Cajun-spiced turkey. We like spicy.

  • Roasted potatoes—rosemary and carmelized onion. But we can’t abandon sweet potatoes. We boil them, then mash them with cream and butter and a touch of brown sugar.

  • Green beans. Because they are an essential part of tradition, and a nod to health.

  • Cornbread. With lots of fresh sweet butter. Corn is very healthy too, of course!

  • Cranberry orange relish. Delightfully tart. Much more enticing taste than cranberry sauce, even home made.

  • Pumpkin pie. And whipped cream with a touch of cinnamon.

  • And of course wine. Champagne is always festive. Otherwise (or in addition) Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel. (Yes, Turley is very expensive, so just get one bottle for the chef. That’s you, right?)

What are you serving?

Happy Thanksgiving!
